Membership Application –Membership is available to individuals who are actively employed in military comptrollership, as active duty or civilian personnel. Associate membership is available for persons who do not meet the qualifications but who demonstrate an interest in the field. Employees of private sector companies who are interested in SDFM membership may join under the corporate membership program. (see below)

To join as an individual member, visit the Online Application. All applications will be reviewed for eligibility. Please do not submit for membership online if you have been a member previously or are enrolled in the CDFM program as a non-member. Doing so will create a duplication of your account.

Membership applications are also available by calling SDFM National Headquarters at (800) 462-5637 or by contacting your local chapter. The types of memberships are:
Active Membership
Persons who are or have been employed as professionals in the military comptrollership field within the Department of Defense or Coast Guard, and who, to remain in good standing, have paid the appropriate dues and fees. The membership fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
Life Membership
Active, Associate or individual Corporate Designee Members (but not Corporations) who have been in good standing for at least twenty consecutive years and who, to remain in good standing, have paid the appropriate dues and fees, and members who are past National Presidents and who, to remain in good standing, have paid the appropriate dues and fees. Life members also include members who joined the Society prior to 1979 and who remained members in good standing for at least twenty consecutive years and became designated Life Members prior to 1 October 1998. Life members are recognized in the Armed Forces Comptroller once a year for their long-time support of the society.
Associate Membership
Persons who, though not qualified for Active or Life Membership, are employed in fields relating to military comptrollership and who to remain in good standing, have paid the appropriate dues and fees.
Corporate Membership
Corporate membership is available for businesses interested in the military comptrollership field. Dues are annual and are available in three levels of membership, all of which include one designee. Designees may belong to any SDFM chapter, regardless of the organization’s chapter affiliation. Corporate members receive all benefits of an active membership. In addition, they receive discounts for advertisements in the national journal and exhibit space at the national PDI; opportunities for speaking and publication of articles; and opportunities to learn about military organization, procedures, new programs and the military environment. Honorary Membership
May be conferred upon persons making significant contributions to military comptrollership who are not eligible for, or who would not otherwise be expected to join, one of the other classes of membership. Honorary membership must be approved by the National Executive Committee, and has no fee.
